This iPhone App will be released on February 28. We would like introduce the content of the App in advance of release.
Now, let's start Zazen!
With this Higanji's Zazen application, you will be able to do Zazen whenever, wherever you want.
A single tap will start playing the instructions for Zazen. You will know the beginning of the session by hearing the bell of a Zen temple.
You can set the session time freely.
Of course Higanji's application is not only this. For people who have never experienced Zazen, we are providing further explanation through the Internet using a video.
This application is linked with Twitter. You can set it to automatically inform the world when you are doing Zazen. Also it will give you information of how many people have done Zazen, and the total time they have done it, within the last 24 hours.
Just for now, clear your mind of all your thoughts and sit in the UNDO; a place where monks do their practice.
Breathe deeply and calmly, then let the sound of the bell start your Zazen.
Practice Zazen
Once you tap the "Meditation start" screen, the sound of preparation will begin.
With three rings of the bell, your Zazen begins.
If you feel drowsy during Zazen, hold your iPhone between your thumb and index finger with both hands. Touch the screen with the tip of your thumbs.

A sound of Kyosaku and a zen word will help your mind to focus.
At the end, the bell will ring once more.
How to Zazen
If you are not familiar with Zazen, don't worry, we put a "How to Zazen" movie below in order to help you start Zazen whenever you want.
Connect to the World
Zazen cannot be performed alone. From long ago, people with the same will for training gathered deep in the mountains, like clouds, to practice, and this has been passed down through the ages. Temple buildings are often called "do" (pronounced "doh"). Zen monks in training are called "Unsui". The temple building, or any place where they practice Zazen is the "do" where "unsui" gather, hence it is called "Undo". Also, "cloud" in Japanese is "Un", and cloud computing has made it possible for people around the world, at any time and in any place, to be connected and practice Zazen together. These "clouds" on the net have become the new "Undo" for everyone.
Our Undo App lets you know how many people around the world, at any given moment, are using their iPhones to practice Zazen. We hope that you will feel connected with these other
Choose your favorite sound
Zazen starts and finishes as with the sound of a bell. You can choose a bell sound from several options in the Undo App. Find a sound you are comfortable with, and use that when you practice Zazen. It may surprise you to know how many different kinds of temple bell sounds there actually are.
Message from HIGAN=JI
Modern society makes us run around in confusion seeking something, anything. But, you don't HAVE to do anything. What makes you "you"? You don't have to travel to find that answer. All you have to do is sit quietly and listen to what your body tells you.
In English, releasing tension and relaxing your body and mind is called "undo". Sit comfortably and become one with your breath. That is where you can see the real you.
So, let us now sit in the "Undo".
